Furnace sizing is calculated from a Manual J load calculation based on your home's square footage, insulation level, window type, ceiling height, and Utah's climate zone. Most Salt Lake Valley single-family homes (2,000–3,500 sq ft) need 60,000–100,000 BTU. Oversized furnaces short-cycle and waste energy; undersized ones run constantly. We run the calculation as part of every install — no guessing.

Standard replacement (same fuel type, same location) takes 4–8 hours and you'll have heat back the same day. New ductwork or fuel-type conversions (electric to gas, etc.) add 1–2 days. We schedule installs so your home isn't without heat overnight during winter months.

A properly sized, well-maintained 95%+ AFUE furnace lasts 15–20 years in Utah. The dry, dusty climate is actually gentler on furnaces than humid regions, but the long heating season (October–April) means furnaces here put in more hours per year.
